The girls are back in town!! After a long weekend in Le lac de Reves (Lake of dreams). What a beautiful place to be in the south of France with good friends, sun, sand, beautiful vistas and excellent food and wine of course at only 3 euro’s for a bottle of Sauvignon 2007 Vin de Pays des Coteaux de l’Ardeche Pierre Chanau. I have to say we did have a few of those and put the world to right. But justified it by hiring a couple of bikes (does my bum look big on this?) and cycling to Carnon Marina on the Monday which turned out to be about 12 kilometres there and back as we took the pretty route!
We were looking like we had been cycling all our life until we reached the open gate on the cycle track, my friend stopped at the gate to walk through, I couldn’t quite stop so ended up crashing into the back of her! (Must have looked very amusing!)
We didn’t have time for a full blown meal at the marina as we had to get the bikes back. So we made do with a French snack at a lovely little beach restaurant. Superb! Time we arrived back at base we just looked knackered! But had a fantastic day. Would we do it again? You bet your life we would!
After shopping for the weekend and getting ripped off by the taxi driver on the way back we decided to enjoy our French supper which included my Asparagus starter.

All you do is wash a bunch of asparagus, break off the ends, put them in a zip lock bag with a little olive oil to cover and season well with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Shake the bag and tip into a frying pan. Cook for about 5 minutes and serve on a warm plate. Season to taste. Bon appetite!
p.s.
I knew he wouldn’t eat salads whilst I was away!
Baz texted me to say I nearly burnt his lamb shank! He started cooking it and promptly left the kitchen to watch the Grand Prix totally forgetting I was in another country!! I think the smell of burning brought him round.
I was happy to see Mr & Mrs Robin still nesting in our garden, and have now been joined by Mr & Mrs Blackbird and their three offspring (which happen to be the same size as the parents!) Baz is moaning because they keep eating the newts out of his pond. He he!
