I wanted to do a really good old fashioned pudding this week. Especially as we had Baz's cousin over from Oz.
So I chose Pineapple upside down cake, it just brings back so many childhood memories. I didn't have my own recipe, so I chose a one from a very well known chef. I followed the recipe, very straightforward, except he had forgotten to put down the size of the baking tin!!
So there I was, everything ready, pineapple had been caramelised, flour, eggs milk all whisked ready, quick check at the recipe and no tin size stated aghh, what to do now? Well, I had to guess it and the tin turned out to be too big. What a shame, it meant the pudding spread out too far and ended up too hard. I was really looking forward to some retro pudding.
Not good enough chef! We cooks follow your every word and if you get someone else to write up your recipes for you that’s when mistakes happen.
I had better luck when I did my own thing for Saturday lunch. Ham and Cheese Bruschetta. I love this little meal and at least I know all of our recipes have been made by us many times.
