One year older, wiser?
Les’s birthday celebrations have finally come to an end.
We started the weekend, on the River Chelmer.
It was a two hour cruise trip. The weather was absolutely fabulous and the drinks freezing cold, can’t be bad.

Then home to chill out after a very long week.
Saturday (surprise BBQ) started as it would stay for the rest of the day- Pouring Rain!
Sent Les shopping while I quickly put up a cover over the patio and then prepared the food.
I say I prepared it; basically it was my job to get the BBQ
up and running and cut the chickens into quarters.
Just in case the weather would put a stop to the BBQ, somewhere nearby a hand of pork was slowly roasting.
Early evening, Les not quite sure what was going on, opened the door to a string of friends arriving bearing food for our BBQ.
Although it was pouring with rain, the chicken was BBQ’ed to perfection (sadly I can’t take any credit for that)
Cous Cous salad was the first to go on the table, followed by a huge green salad, the hand of pork with a bowl of apple sauce came next and to everyone’s delight, two bowls of garlic potatoes (cooked in real butter)
When the waffleberry pudding
and carrot cake turned up, every one found a little more room for dessert.
Sadly the night was over and Sunday started with an old fashion lie in, then back to kitchen stove to make some bacon sandwiches for all who stayed.
The next day our friend Pat took Les out to lunch at a beautiful riverside pub.
Oh, and just a little shopping on the way home.
A lovely finish to a great weekend.

That waffleberry pudding looks sooo delectable!
And of course potatoes ought to be cooked in REAL butter…I shudder to think of any use of substitutes!
