Cheese burgers the joneses way

Ingredients

  • 1lb/450g good minced (ground) beef
  • 1 Large onion-finely chopped
  • 2oz/60g Sun dried tomatoes-finely chopped
  • 2oz/60g Halloumi cheese
  • 2oz/60g Cheddar cheese
  • 1 egg-beaten
  • Salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Method

  • Mix the chopped onion and tomatoes with the minced beef
  • Add the beaten egg to the mixture and season
  • Combine the ingredients together with your hands until thoroughly incorporated
  • Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions
  • Mould into round shapes
  • Make a deep well in the middle of each burger
  • Either grate the cheeses or put into a food processor and blitz for a few seconds
  • Mould the cheeses in to 4 ball shapes
  • Place 1 ball in each burger well
  • Pull the meat gently over the cheese
  • Pat the burger in your hands to form the burger shape
  • Cook on the B.B.Q. or griddle for about 10 mins each side
  • Turn carefully and frequently

Cooks Tip

  • I used Halloumi cheese this time and it works extremely well
  • I have made them with Roquefort and Cheddar
  • The mixture of a strong and milder cheese just blends well together

Garnish

  • Serve with toasted sesame buns and a crisp green salad with beetroot

  • Blender or food processor
