Pizza
Pizza almost certainly took its form from the flatbreads the Romans, Egyptians and Greeks used to make in ancient times.
It was definitely made more famous by the people in the city of Naples, when the peasants used to use what limited ingredients they had i.e. wheat flour, lard, cheese, herbs and of course olive oil
Mozzarella is thought to have originated from the introduction of water buffalo from India in about A.D. 600 but history is not absolutely clear as to why these animals appeared in Italy.
Today the best mozzarella cheese is always made from buffalo milk.
Mozzarella, basil and tomato salad first appeared as a meal on the Island of Capri also on mainland Campania and is usually called insalata caprese.
It wouldn’t have taken the Italians long to realise what a tasty dish they had, especially when you combine these ingredients and cook them on a flat bread..
